LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Three people will not face murder charges in connection with the March beating death of a Texas man.
A Lafayette Parish grand jury has chosen not to indict Jerroyd Nixon, Freddie Keal and Kizzy Ann Thomas. Each was facing one count of second-degree murder.
Police arrested the suspects after the victim, 48-year-old Jack Russell Warren of Levelland, Texas, was found severely injured outside a Lafayette restaurant.
Warren suffered head trauma during the attack and died at a local hospital from his injuries.
Early in the investigation, police said they suspected that the attack stemmed from a dispute over money that Warren allegedly owed the suspects.
The Advertiser reports Nixon, Keal and Thomas all were released from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center following the grandjury's decision.
