TROY, Ala. - The second-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team continues Sun Belt Conference play this weekend as the squad heads to Troy for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. with the contest to be broadcast on the Sun Belt Network (Cox Sports Television/CSS) and simulcast on ESPN3.com. Lyn Rollins will provide play-by-play with Ronnie Rantz serving as a color analyst. All three games can be heard on News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM with Jay Walker making the call.
Louisiana (27-3, 8-1 Sun Belt) sits in first place in conference play and has won its last four conference series dating back to the 2013 season. The Cajuns have not dropped a weekend series this year taking at least two games in all seven series.
For the fourth straight week the Cajuns will go with the rotation of Austin Robichaux, Carson Baranik and Cody Boutte. Robichaux is slated to go Friday night, while Baranik will make the start Saturday and Boutte on Sunday.
Robichaux comes into the start with a 4-2 record and a 2.92 ERA in 49.1 innings. He is tied for second in the Sun Belt with 47 strikeouts. Baranik ranks fifth in the nation with six wins and is second in the conference with a 2.28 ERA, and Boutte is 3-0 in six starts with 4.61 ERA.
Offensively, Louisiana is hitting .319 on the year and .359 in conference. The Ragin' Cajuns have 11 players with double digit RBI lead by junior Jace Conrad with 35. Conrad also leads the squad in average (.364), hits (40), hit by pitch (9) and stolen bases (12). The Lafayette native is currently riding a 20-game on base streak and a team-leading 14-game hit streak.
Junior Caleb Adams has reached base safely in the last 24 games. Adams has posted 30 hits, 18 walks and 16 RBI during the streak.
Nine Louisiana players are hitting over .300 on the season, while the team is ranked second in the country in home runs with 36.
The Cajuns hold a 20-12 series edge against the Trojans. Louisiana is 5-5 at Riddle-Pace Field having won two of the three series played in Troy, Ala. The Ragin' Cajuns won the first two meetings against Troy last year before falling to the Trojans in the final game.
Troy (16-13, 4-4 Sun Belt) comes into the series having won a pair of games against Georgia State and UAB after losing three straight. The Trojans are 10-7 at home this season having won three of their last five at Riddle-Pace Field.
David Hall leads the Trojans offensively hitting .357 with five home runs and 18 RBI. Garrett Pitts is second on the squad with a .322 average and a team-best 22 RBI.
Right-hander Tanner Hicks will make the start on Friday. Hicks is 2-4 on the year with a 3.35 and 44 strikeouts. Troy is slated to start a pair of lefties on Saturday and Sunday in Shane McCain (3-2) and Ben Tidwell (0-0). McCain leads the league with a 1.93 ERA and is tied for second in strikeouts with Robichaux.

Following the Troy series, the Ragin' Cajuns open a five-game week on Tuesday when they host in-state foe New Orleans in a 6 p.m. contest at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
