The LSU Eunice softball team remained the No. 1 team in the nation following the release of the weekly rankings released by the NJCAA this afternoon.
The Lady Bengals, 44-4, are currently on a 17-game winning streak and have also gone on a 22-game winning streak this season to set a program-high for consecutive victories.
LSU Eunice remained the only team to receive first place votes, as they again received all 80 points to secure the top spot.
There was some shifting below the Lady Bengals in the top 10, as Phoenix College remained the No. 2 team before Kirkwood Community College and Crowley County Community College jumped up to No. 3 and 4, moving up from sixth and seventh, respectively.
Heartland Community College dropped one position from last week's poll to the No. 5 spot, while Region 23 foe Jones County Junior College dropped from third to No. 6. Des Moines Area Community College moved up one spot to No. 7, while another Region 23 opponent, Mississippi Gulf Coast, dropped from fifth to No. 8.
Highland Community College (No.9) and Parkland College (No. 10) held steady at their rankings to round out the top 10.
Lady Bengal sophomore Kelsey Hollier has 61 RBIs, the second-most in the country, through Tuesday's games, while freshman Emily Nolan's 48 RBIs rank tenth in the nation.
Freshman pitcher Julienne Broussard has tallied 21 wins on the season, tied for the most in the nation in that category, and has struck out 129 batters, ranking 10th in that category.
The Lady Bengals return home on tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. against LSU Alexandria.
