NHS Band Competes in National Championship

Northside High School Viking Regiment departed Viking Stadium at 3am Friday morning headed to the National Asymmetric High Stepping National Competition where they competed against 25 high school bands from across the country.

Prior to departing, they held a midnight practice leading up to their 3:00 am departure to Charlotte, NC.

This was the first time NHS competed nationally in over eight years. They performed in the preliminary competition on Saturday at 4:00 pm in Division 2. They received 1st place for General Effect,Marching, and Dance Team. 2nd place Drum Major 3rd place Color Guard and Band.

The bands were broken into four divisions and only 12 made it to the finals on Sunday in Open Class where there was no divisional separation. They made it to the finals, and were awarded as follows: The Geraldine Carver Esprit De Corps Showmanship Award and 1st place Dance Team. The final ranking for the overall band was 9th place.
