As over 6,000 J.H.Williams students took their seats today, it was a former student that took center stage.
"Having a local, professional football player that has ties to the school and to the community come and talk to kids about staying in school, making good grades, making good choices really has an impact on these kids", says principal Dana Primeaux.
Ravens free safety Anthony Levine, a two time Superbowl Champion, spoke to the students about making the right choices, choices that could propel them to reach their goals.
"Being here in Abbeville, you have to work. You've gotta understand it's a humbling experience. Every time I come back, it's a humbling experience. And I'm like, "I came from this. This is who I am"", says Levine.
Levine's main focus was on the future, as well as respecting others and yourself.
However, it was the present that shone through today, as three deserving students were chosen to tag along with Levine for a shopping spree.
"Even though a lot of kids don't like school, you gotta do it to get a job and become something", says Shaquam Williams, one of the three students.
Levine plans on doing even more for the school in the future, and no one can be prouder, than the woman who's watched him grow up.
"It makes me feel great to know that he came back to give back to the community", says Anthony's mother Christina Levine.
