A former Baton Rouge police corporal accused of soliciting and accepting cash from an inmate has received a new trial date. Donald Bailey was scheduled to stand trial Tuesday on charges of bribery, corrupt influencing and malfeasance.

Michael Walsh, who represents Bailey, requested a new trial date of May 9, and state District Judge Chip Moore granted the request. Walsh tells The Advocate that discussions are under way with prosecutors about a possible plea.
