BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board has delayed a vote on a proposal to change its travel rules so all employees get a flat daily per diem for meals rather than having to submit original receipts.
The Advocate reports a couple of board members did not like a provision that would pay out only some of the daily meal allowance on the first and last days of the trip.
Board member Vereta Lee also objected to a change that would increase from $300 to $500 the qualification for a travel advance.
The board is planning to take the matter up at a May 3 meeting/
The new rules would take effect July 1, the first day of the 2012-13 fiscal year.
