BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Incoming Southern University Chancellor James Llorens will receive a $270,000 annual pay package if it is approved Friday.
The total deal is $25,000 less than the pay package received by outgoing Chancellor Kofi Lomotey, who is expected to go on sabbatical after retaining his tenured professor status at Southern.
The Advocate reports the Southern Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Friday on the proposed agreement. Llorens is slated to take over July 1.
Llorens will have a $250,000 base salary, which is more than the $245,000 base Lomotey had.
Llorens will get a $20,000 housing allowance and no vehicle allowance. Lomotey got $50,000 in combined annual housing and vehicle payments.
Southern University System President Ronald Mason Jr. has a $426,000 pay package.
