NEW ROADS, La. (AP) - The New Roads City Council has adopted an ordinance that will increase court costs in Mayor's Court from $45 to $65.

The Advocate reports the measure passed Tuesday after a public hearing during which no one spoke in opposition of the change.

Mayor Robert Myer said the city is not trying to issue more citations. He said the change was implemented to increase revenue because of rising costs.
