METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The New Orleans Saints have released
fourth-string quarterback Sean Canfield and reserve receiver Andy
Tanner.
New Orleans needed to cut two players to get its preseason
roster down to 75 by Tuesday afternoon as required by NFL rules.
Canfield, a former Oregon State quarterback, was drafted by the
Saints in the seventh round of the 2010 draft. If he clears
waivers, the Saints could still bring him back on their practice
squad during the regular season.
Tanner was signed as a rookie free agent out of Midwestern
State.
