New Iberia men accused of downtown Lafayette armed robbery arrested

Two suspected armed robbers are accused of stealing wallets and cell phones from two people in downtown Lafayette around 2:30 Sunday morning. Lafayette police say the pair was sitting in a car in the 100 block of East Main St. when five males approached them. "Two of the suspects displayed handguns and demanded the victim's wallets and cell phones. After the suspects stole the victim's belongings, they fled the area on foot," according to Cpl. Paul Mouton. No one was injured.

After the victims reported the robbery to officers working on Jefferson St., police found Laquinton Dejean, 20, and Cliff Ledet III, 20, and charged them with armed robbery. Both suspects are from New Iberia .
