New Iberia Man Killed in Vermilion Parish Crash

Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a New Iberia man and left a Maurice woman in critical condition.
According to the investigating troopers, on September 24, 2010, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a 1999 Honda Accord was traveling west on LA 696. For unknown reasons the driver, 19-year-old Shawn Touchard of New Iberia, LA, lost control of the vehicle. Touchard's vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a culvert on the driver side of the vehicle.
Touchard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. The passenger in his vehicle, 17-year-old Rochelle Hollier of Maurice, LA, was critically injured in the crash. She was transported to a local hospital by Acadian Air-Med.
The crash remains under investigation.
