New Iberia man accused of stealing $6K worth of merchandise from local business

A New Iberia man was arrested Monday for his alleged role in stealing $6,000 worth of inventory and an air conditioning window unit from an Iberia Parish business.

According to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded on Aug. 14 to a reported business burglary in the 3400 block of Northside Road.

The business owners said $6,000 worth of inventory was missing, along with an air conditioning window unit.

Detectives used video surveillance to identify the suspects.

Shay Lacour, 19, 310 South Lewis St., was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on charges of simple burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A 16-year-old male was also cited for simple burglary and released to his parents.

Deputies say most of the stolen property was found at 310 South Lewis St.
