The New Iberia City Council will vote Tuesday night on two tax propositions. The first is a 10.43 mill property tax that would generate money for the city's general fund. According to Mayor Pro Temp Dan Doerle, a home valued at $150,000 would pay an extra $6 in taxes. The second is a half-cent sales tax that would be used to fund law enforcement agencies working in the city. Doerle says this tax would generate $3.4 million dollars.
If approved, these taxes would be sent to voters for their approval. The council meeting begins at 5:30 P. M.
