New fire chief in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Craig Mulford has been named chief of the Shreveport Fire Department.
The Times reports the 47-year-old Mulford joined the fire department after graduating from Southwood High School in Shreveport in 1982. He was a captain with the department.
His father Ronald Mulford was a fire department employee for 33 years. Craig Mulford also has a brother and brother-in-law with the department.
Mulford was among five finalists for the position. He will take over immediately, although his appointment is subject to ratification by Shreveport city council members.
Former chief Brian Crawford will start a new job Tuesday as chief administrative officer for Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover.
