New Details in Infant Murder Case in Abbeville

Abbeville Police Department Detectives arrested Adolfo Iracheta, Jr Thursday afternoon for the murder of his 28 day old daughter.
Detectives responded Saturday morning to a complaint made by OCS that an infant child from Abbeville was in a hospital in Lafayette apparently the victim of child abuse and in critical condition.
Detectives interviewed the parents and awaited information from the hospital until Tuesday, when they were informed of the child’s death. The autopsy revealed death by Shaken Baby Impact due to blunt force trauma.
Based on the information gathered during the investigation and the findings of the autopsy, Detectives obtained a warrant for First Degree Murder for Adolfo Iracheta on Thursday afternoon and Iracheta was taken into custody at his residence without incident. Iracheta, age 31, of Abbeville, is being held at VPCC on a $1,000,000.00 bond.
