MONROE, La. (AP) - Neville Alumni and Friends Association members have voted to proceed as soon as possible with filing an application to charter Neville High School.
That means the Monroe City School Board will likely have the Neville High School charter application in hand for its April 17 meeting.
If the board takes no action or denies the charter, the charter board would then make its application to the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
NAFA past president Ronnie Shelby told The News-Star the group named its 10 member governing board Monday and decided to file its charter application after confirming the board and receiving biographical information from each member.
Shelby said the group's mission was validated recently when 68 percent of the school's faculty voted in favor of the charter.
