MONROE, La. (AP) - Neville Charter School Board members say they are willing to consider negotiating with the city's school district for a shared services contract, but they're not discontinuing their efforts to charter through the state.
The district's independent charter school evaluator recently contacted Neville to ask whether the school intended to "remain in the process" with Monroe City Schools or to withdraw its application.
The shared services contract would allow Neville to operate as a charter school while remaining part of the local district.
Neville's charter was approved by the Monroe City School district in May, but in August the board failed to negotiate a shared services agreement, preventing Neville to open as a charter in August.
