National wildlife refuges in La, TX, CA to expand

The U.S. Migratory Bird Conservation Commission has approved more than $3.8 million to expand a national wildlife refuge in northeast Louisiana, and another $2.8 million to add land to refuges in Texas and California.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says duck stamps are providing most of the money for all five projects approved Wednesday in Washington.
In Louisiana, it's expanding the Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge in Union and Morehouse parishes. The service will buy 3,276 acres and expand the boundaries by a total of 18,711 acres.
The commission also approved $2 million to buy land for three refuges in Texas and $782,000 to add 305 acres to the Tulare Basin Wildlife Management Area in Kern and Tulare counties, California.
