The National Weather Service out of Lake Charles will be offering a SKYWARN Severe Weather Observation training.
Trained "STORM SPOTTERS" are able to identify and explain weather conditions to weather severe professionals, enhancing the severe weather warning system.
SKYWARN covers the basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structure, identifying potential severe weather features, information to report and how to report.
The classes for training are free. For anyone interested in becoming a "STORM SPOTTER", and learning how to assist with reporting severe weather to St. Martin OHSEP and the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, training will be Tuesday, August 12, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Training will take place at the St. Martin Parish Fire Training Center located at 1035-A Ruth Bridge Hwy, Breaux Bridge, LA.
