Natchitoches man arrested in girlfriend's death

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Police say a 35-year-old Natchitoches woman was found dead from a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning.
The Alexandria Town Talk reports 32-year-old Rodney Barnes has been booked with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Chackawanda Moore Beard.
Police say an argument between the two late Tuesday or early Wednesday escalated, and Barnes allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Beard.
Barnes was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Jail.
It was not immediately known whether Barnes has an attorney.
