BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says her department would like to use the collaboration between the nonprofit Cyber Innovation Center and area schools as a model for the rest of the nation.
The Times reports that she cited the community's investment in a zoning overlay district, the CIC's collaborations between the private sector and local grade schools and colleges and the presence of Barksdale Air Force Base.
Napolitano and U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., toured the center in Bossier City on Tuesday and spoke with several students and teachers who had attended its Cyber Discovery Camp. The center got a $300,000 Homeland Security grant in July to support its cyber camps and other educational programs.
