A federal judge has agreed to delay the trial of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
Nagin was set to go to trial on April 29 to face charges of bribery, money laundering, conspiracy and tax fraud.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan rescheduled the case for Oct. 7.
The April trial date was a preliminary date a federal magistrate judge set after Nagin pleaded not guilty Feb. 20 to a 21-count indictment a grand jury handed up against him a month earlier.
In their joint request for the delay, the U.S. Attorney's Office and Nagin, though his attorney said the case is "complex and involved an extensive amount of electronic and documentary discovery."
