NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans woman has pleaded guilty to making false statements to firearms dealers in purchasing six guns.

Twenty-eight-year-old Irna Lacayo faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each of the four counts to which she pleaded guilty on Thursday. Her sentencing by U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval Jr. is set for July 25.

A court filing says the case against Lacayo stems from a federal probe of firearms smuggling.

Lacayo allegedly told federal agents that she bought all six firearms for her husband and his workers and shipped the weapons to them in Honduras.
