LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - One of two suspects in the 2010 beating death of a University of Louisiana at Lafayette student has been sentenced to prison for drug possession charges unrelated to the murder.
23-year-old Ian Trahan was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison and five years of supervision once he is released for possession of Xanax.
He also was ordered to service a concurrent six-month prison sentence for possession of marijuana.
Trahan, of Youngsville, and Wayland Guillory, of Lafayette, each face a first-degree murder charge in the November 2010 beating death of Kenneth Donnelly Jr.
