More details have been made available about the arrest Wednesday of a suspect in a 2012 murder at an Iberia Parish lounge.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and the U. S. Marshals Service, arrested 20-year-old Wendall Hines at a Four Corners home. Hines is accused of shooting an killing Joseph DeFils last July at the Mon Ami reception hall on US 90.
St. Mary Parish sheriff's deputies say they found $5,250 in marijuana, $2,700 in crack cocaine, more than $1,000 in pills, and $105 in liquid codeine in the home. Detectives say they also recovered more than $3,000 in cash from the site.
Hines faces three counts of possession with intent to distribute, one count of possessing a stolen gun, and a host of other drug and weapons charges.
A second man, 30-year-old Christopher James Howard of Four Corners, was also arrested in connection with the drug investigation. He faces one count each of possession with intent to distribute and doctor shopping.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says Howard is not connected to the Mon Ami incident.
