Multiple vehicle crash in Vernon Parish

Troop E is currently investigating a multiple vehicle crash in Vernon Parish at the intersection of LA 28 and LA 8, east of Leesville. One of the vehicles involved is a tanker truck carrying molten sulfur and one of the other vehicles is a log truck.

Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of travel are closed at this time. There is one confirmed fatality and at least one critical injury reported.

Haz-mat units from State Police and Fort Polk are enroute as a precaution.
