SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A police chase that wound through several northwestern Louisiana parishes ended when the 47-year-old driver fatally shot himself.
Police say O. B. Mitchell Jr., died late Monday night after leading police from Caddo Parish, through DeSoto Parish before shooting himself outside of Alexandria.
State police say the hour-long chase reached speeds of 90 to 125 miles per hour. Trooper Scott Moreau says eventually the car slowed down to 55 mph and headed into the median where it appears Mitchell took his own life.
KSLA TV reports Mitchell was a suspect in the shooting of 32-year-old Lakesha Robinson, the mother of his child. Robinson is hospitalized in fair condition.
