COLFAX, La. (AP) - Louisiana has dozens of ways to celebrate the
Fourth of July, but for some the only way to go is to cover
themselves in mud.
Louisiana Mudfest celebrates its third year this weekend, with
people from all over descending on Grant Parish to enjoy music,
swimming, camping and, of course, powering trucks and all-terrain
vehicles through acres and acres of mud.
Becky Parker, whose family runs the event on their land near
Colfax, told the Town Talk that people love playing in the mud, and
usually make a full weekend out of it.
The idea for Louisiana Mudfest came from Okeechobee, Fla., where
a similar event is held. Justin Parker, who was living there, told
his family about it. It's grown from just a few people to
