LA-Miles Perret Cancer Services (MPCS) has officially revealed its 12th annual Games of Acadiana commemorative poster, featuring the theme Play with a Purpose and created by local artist, Bonnie Camos.

Games of Acadiana, MPCS' signature fundraising event, has featured a commemorative poster artist since the inception of Games in 2001.

"Bonnie was really able to portray what we're all about," says MPCS Executive Director Nicole Jones. "MPCS is a place of support and hope. The poster encompasses not only the mission of MPCS, but also what Games of Acadiana is all about - celebrating and supporting those who have faced cancer."

This year's painting presents a rock wall, with each "rock" representing what MPCS strives to provide each of its clients as they fight, survive, and live with cancer. Its bright colors and inspirational words capture the energy of the day. The poster was first revealed downtown at Gallery 549 for the June Artwalk.

"It was an honor to create this special piece for Miles Perret Cancer Services", says Camos. "I have walked with family and friends through cancer, and I understand the ripple effect cancer creates. Pulling from these experiences, I chose to focus the piece on the positive things such as constant support from friends, continuous prayers for strength and courage, and love that grows exponentially day-to-day."

The original painting can be viewed at Games of Acadiana on August 18 from 10:00am to 4:00pm in the Cajundome lobby. Poster prints will be available for purchase and participants will be able to sign a reprint in memory or in honor of a loved one diagnosed with cancer to be displayed at the MPCS office.

Games of Acadiana is a family-centered event filled with more than 60 games and activities. It will be held at the Cajundome and Convention Center and there is no admission fee to attend. For more information on Game Day or Miles Perret Cancer Services visit milesperret.org or call 337-984-1920.
