Motorcyclist collides with horse, both killed

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A Greenwood man is dead after his motorcycle struck a horse in Caddo Parish.
The Sheriff's Office says the accident happened about 6 a.m. Thursday in the 7600 block of Jefferson Paige Road, near Alma Road.
Deputies say 53-year-old Mathew Hale was westbound on a 2012 Yamaha when the horse ran out in front of him. The motorcycle then collided with the horse.
Hale was taken to LSU Hospital in Shreveport where he died from his injuries.
Lt. Don Gibbs says the horse also suffered extensive injuries and an area veterinarian subsequently disposed of the animal.
