HEFLIN, La. (AP) - A police chase in northwestern Louisiana has ended with a motorcycle rider facing charges after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Authorities say two motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 371 in Webster Parish Saturday night when a sheriff's deputy tried to pull them over. Eventually, one of the two riders was stopped at Dixie Inn, but the other kept going.
Deputies told KTBS that the motorcyclist tried to run over a Webster Parish deputy at Heflin. The deputy fired at the rider and struck him at least once. The motorcyclist was transported to LSU Hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the motorcyclist would be booked with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer.
