DEQUINCY, La. (AP) - State police say a two-vehicle crash on La. Highway 27 south of DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish claimed the life of a DeQuincy man.
Troopers say a 2001 Honda motorcycle driven by 26-year-old John Fruge of DeQuincy was traveling south on Highway 27 Thursday night when he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler that was also traveling south. They say Fruge failed to observe a northbound pickup approaching on the two-lane highway. Both drivers then veered toward the east shoulder but did not avoid the crash.
Troopers say Fruge was ejected from the motorcycle and
pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office.
The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash.
