Mother to face sanity hearing

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A mother who allegedly left her 8-month-old daughter in a running car with the heater on for five hours in 2008 is scheduled for a sanity hearing next month.
Natalie Thornton is scheduled to appear in state court on Nov. 2 for a sanity hearing in the death of her daughter, Arielle George.
A grand jury indicted Thornton in August 2008 on a second-degree murder charge.
Thornton pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
On May 11, 2008, Mother's Day, Thornton allegedly left her daughter in a running car with the heater on for five hours.
Thornton allegedly told police that she returned to the car five hours later to find her daughter unresponsive.
