Alidia Credeur Bertrand was in an Acadia Parish court hearing Wednesday to gain full custody of the four children she had with Kerry Bertrand during their marriage.
Bertrand is currently incarcerated in the Acadia Parish Jail on six counts of violating a protective order and one count of molestation of a juvenile. He is also a person of interest in the Aug. 21 death of his stepdaughter, Skylar Credeur, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Maxine Trahan.
Court documents say Alidia Credeur Bertrand asked a mediator for full custody of the couple's four sons, to which the mediator agreed. In the recommendation, the mediator also proposes Bertrand not be allowed visitation rights with the minor children until the pending criminal charges are disposed of.
The mediator's recommendations are still subject to Bertrand's objection. If no objection is filed before 4:30 p.m. On Nov. 12, the recommendation will be accepted.
Bertrand was not able to appear at the hearing due to his current incarceration.
Fifteenth Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson said on Sept. 27 his office is still waiting for an investigative report from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office in the Skylar Credeur murder case pending results from lab tests.
Harson says the case will be presented to a grand jury after it is received.
