This Mother's Day we bring you the story of a mother and daughter who overcame the odds, and are truly grateful to celebrate with each other this year.
"We're like best friends, we do everything together almost," said Tracy Bartholomew
Bartholomew and her mom, Bobbie Thibodeaux, are happy to be together this Mother's Day.
"If we need something, one another, we're there for each other. If I'm sick she's there for me, if she's sick I'm there for her," said Thibodeaux.
They said that's especially true this year, as Thibodeaux recently overcame thyroid cancer and now her daughter might need a liver transplant. They had been through thick and thin and they're bond was put to the test when they were both hospitalized in Opelousas unexpectedly.
"I was in ICU and she was downstairs, so we didn't know what to do because we're always there for each other," said Thibodeaux, tearing up.
But even doctors couldn't keep them apart, Bartholomew got a nurse to bring her to see her mother right after she had a procedure done in the hospital.
"And I had to get somebody to bring me up there and I was so scared because she's always with me through everything. She was worried about me downstairs and I was worried about her," recalled Bartholomew.
To be able to celebrate Mother's Day together this year is a blessing all its own for the two.
"It's really hard because we've always been together and I don't know what I'd do without her," said Thibodeaux.
"Be thankful you have your mother, and if they support you as much as mine does, show them appreciation, they deserve it," said Bartholomew.
