PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a mother and teenage daughter have died of injuries they suffered when their food truck exploded in Philadelphia earlier this month.
The city medical examiner's office confirmed that 17-year-old Jaylin Landaverry Galdamez died Tuesday and 42-year-old Olga Galdamez died Sunday.
Spokesman Jeff Moran said Thursday that they died of burn-related injuries suffered from the fiery explosion July 1 in north Philadelphia.
Eleven others were injured in the explosion, three critically. Investigators believe it was caused by a propane tank leak ignited by cooking grills.
Little Flower High School teacher Carol Dauerbach (dow-er-bak) said Galdamez hoped to become a doctor, and said the food truck was her "ticket to the future."
She said the teen helped her mother do prep work at home on school days, and joined her in the truck during the summer.
