Mother admits role in death of son

DERIDDER, La. (AP) Holly A. Brewer, whose 18-month-old son died after being beaten by her boyfriend last year, has pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
Brewer entered her plea Monday before state District Judge C. Kerry Anderson.
The American Press reports the 21-year-old Brewer was arrested in July after her son, John Thomas Anthony Brewer, died after suffering severe head trauma and bruising in the beating.
Jeffrey Paul Denby, Brewer's boyfriend, was convicted of first-degree murder in May. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Brewer's sentencing is set for Aug. 26.
