A Moss Bluff man was held for more than $21,000 in bail after Calcasieu Parish deputies say they arrested him for his fourth charge of driving while intoxicated.
At midnight on Nov. 2, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a traffic stop near the 2500 block of Highway 171 North in Moss Bluff after they say a car swerved into the opposite lane of travel several times.
Deputies say when they approached the car and spoke with the driver, Benjamin R. Myers, 30, 441 Pinecone Drive, Moss Bluff, they detected his speech to be slurred and he appeared very unsteady on his feet.
After Myers performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test, deputies say he was arrested and transferred to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, where he refused to submit to a breath intoxilyzer test.
Myers, who police say has had three DWI arrests since 2009, was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with DWI 4th.
Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $21,500.
CPSO Sr. Cpl. Joshua Bazinet and Deputy Jeffery Spears were the arresting deputies on this case.
