Mortuary employee accused of theft

MONROE, La. (AP) - Monroe police arrested a Bastrop woman accused of stealing money from an area funeral home.
45-year-old Wanda Davis was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on a felony theft charge.
According to an arrest affidavit, police began an investigation into a reported theft on Jan. 11.
The investigation revealed an employee, identified as Davis, who had been working at the funeral home since 2000, had allegedly taken over $17,000 from the home.
It was unclear whether Davis has an attorney.
