"Rhythms on the River" is a live music series held for nineweeks every Friday beginning after Easter each spring. Performances will take place in historic downtown Morgan City on Front Street between Everett & Freret Streets. Each week's live performance will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. This year's line-up will include live performances by Don Rich, Nik L Beer, South 70, Krossfyre, T K Hulin, Jamie Bergeron, Chubby Carrier, The Good Feelin Band, and Déjà Vu.
Don Rich, a Pierre Part native, will kick off this year's "Rhythms on the River" with a performance on April 5th. Don Rich has been playing music for over 41 years and enjoys bringing authentic Cajun swamp pop to crowds all around Louisiana. For more information on Don Rich visit www.donrichmusic.com. The second performance will be held on April 12th, with music by Nik L Beer. For 35 years Nik L Beer has been one of South Louisiana's favorite party bands. These guys will jam golden oldies, Zydeco, soul, Motown, country, old-school funk, swamp pop and Cajun music for everyone to enjoy. For more information on Nik L Beer visit www.niklbeer.com. South 70, a seven piece band all born in south Louisiana, will perform the third week on April 19th. South 70 will get your toes tapping to a mixture of Zydeco, swamp pop, Cajun, country and more! One of their biggest enjoyments is watching people dance to their music! For more information on South 70 visit www.south70band.com. The last performance in April will be by Krossfyre on April 26th. Krossfyre is the ultimate live R & B Funk experience, playing 50s Rock and Roll, 60s Soul, 70s Funk through today's Hip Hop hits. T K Hulin will perform on May 3rd. T K Hulin has become a Louisiana legend and major figure in the music industry with a signing career that spans almost 50 years. When his music starts, this Louisiana legend is off and running, taking everyone along for the ride. For more information visit www.tkhulin.com. On May 10th Jamie Bergeron will take the stage with a lively performance of Cajun/Zydeco music along the river. For more information on Jamie Bergeron visit www.kickincajuns.com. The seventh performance will be by the Grammy Award Winner, Chubby Carrier, on May 17th. Chubby, being a third generation Zydeco musician, formed his band Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band in January 1989, and they won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Zydeco Album. This band is a very popular band in the south and has kept the audience dancing since 1977. They will play a wide variety of music for all ages and music interests. The final performance of the 2013 "Rhythms on the River" will be by Déjà Vu on May 31st. This five piece band calls south Louisiana home and has a diverse musical background making them the perfect variety cover band. They will entertain the crowd with Motown, country, disco, rock, 80s, 90s and dance music.
"Rhythms on the River" is FREE outdoor entertainment presented by Morgan City Main Street and sponsored by Café Jo Jo's who will be offering food, and drink concessions, the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce and the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau.
