Morgan City Police Issue Warning To Businesses

The Morgan City Police Department is issuing an advisory and also asking for assistance in locating a suspect.

The MCPD has had several cases of an unknown suspect committing thefts at local stores by conducting a "Quick Change" scheme. The suspect will pick a busy cashier at various stores and attempt to make a small purchase. The suspect, upon receiving his change, will begin to ask for different denominations several different ways and eventually confuse the cashier and pocket some of the money along with receiving more change than the amount he started with.

This scheme has exceeded one hundred dollars in some cases. The suspect's photo along with his vehicle are attached.

The suspect is described as black male approximately 6 foot tall with a medium build, medium complexion with light facial hair. The suspect is driving a silver four door vehicle believed to be a Pontiac Grand Prix or similar style.

Merchants should be cautious during this busy holiday shopping season of this activity, and also ask anyone who has information on the suspect to contact the MCPD Detectives Division at 985-380-4605.
