In St. Mary Parish, a Morgan City man is under arrest, accused of committing an inappropriate sexual act on a nursing home resident.
Arrested: 12/28/09 @ 4:30pm Location: Lagonda Rd., Bayou Vista
Craig J. Carpenter, 34yrs old, Lagonda Rd., Bayou Vista
Charges: Warrant Charging-
1.) Simple Battery
3.) Perpetration Of A Crime Against A Victim 65 or older.
Details: The Morgan City Police Department investigated a complaint involving a visitor at a local nursing care center committing an inappropriate sexual act involving one of the residents. MCPD Detectives investigating the case issued warrants for Carpenter charging that he touched the resident in an inappropriate sexual manner, while performing an obscene act on himself. The victim was over 65 years of age resulting in the additional penalty- enhancement charge. The victim was not injured in the incident. CARPENTER was located on Lagonda Rd. by MCPD Detectives and arrested with the assistance of St. Mary Sheriff's Detectives. Bond for MCPD charges was set at $505,000.00. CARPENTER is also being held on a No-Bond detainer by Parole Authorities for parole violation based on this arrest while being on parole for a conviction in Texas for a similar incident.
Carpenter also has been linked to another obscenity case the MCPD has been investigating, and was charged by warrant for another count of obscenity at 10:00am on December 30, 2009. This case involved a complaint received by two female joggers who were utilizing a local football stadium running track. The females reported that a male subject lowered his pants, exposing himself while committing a lewd act, as they neared his location. The subject then fled the area. It should be noted that this did not take place during school hours. Bond has been set at an additional $100,000.00
