An inmate in the Morgan City Jail died Saturday after spending less than 24 hours in the facility. Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch says 59-year-old David Crouch was arrested Friday night around 11:00 P. M. on a warrant for failure to appear. The next night, Brooks's cellmate found him unresponsive. Medical personnel attempted to revive Brooks, but they were not successful. According to Crouch, Brooks was a native of Boise, Idaho, living in Lafayette for work. Louisiana State Police was called to investigate. They say their initial inquest points to natural causes. Autopsy results are pending.
