Morgan City Daily Arrest Report

The Morgan City Police Department arrested the following individuals during the last reporting period beginning 12/09/2013:

1. Oscanique Toups, 17 years of age, Address-Friendship Alley Amelia, La. was arrested on 12/09/2013@ 8:56am
Charge: Engaging in a Fistic Encounter
Morgan City Police Department was summoned to the Morgan City High School regarding a fight. Officers arrived and were advised by school staff that three females were involved in a fistic encounter on school grounds. Oscanique Toups, 17 years old and two female juveniles, ages 15 & 16 were identified as the suspects. All three were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. The juveniles were booked and released to family pending court proceedings. Toups was booked and released after posting a cash bond of $500.00.

2. Gregory P. Bell, 40 years of age, Address-Bush St. Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 12/09/2013 @ 7:59pm
Charge: Possession of Schedule III CDS-Codeine; No Drivers License; Resisting an Officer
An officer was dispatched to a Federal Avenue convenience store regarding suspected drug activity. When the officer arrived, he observed suspicious activity involving a subject inside a vehicle. As the subject attempted to drive away, the officer conducted a traffic stop to detain the vehicle and it's driver. The driver of the vehicle eventually stopped his vehicle and fled from the scene on foot. The officer gave chase, capturing the subject. The subject, Gregory Bell was escorted back to the vehicle. The departments new police canine was used and the resulting indications provided officers with probable cause to search the vehicle. Officers located a substance believed to be Codeine, a controlled dangerous substance along with a green vegetable matter believed to be marijuana. The subject, Bell was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated.

3. John L. Willis, 32 years of age, Address-Lafayette, Louisiana was arrested on 12/10/2013 @ 12:18pm
Charge: Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated 2nd Offense; Careless Operation with Accident; Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle
A patrolling officer discovered a vehicle located in a ditch at the intersection of Cottonwood St. and Highway 182. The officer detained the suspected driver, identified as John Willis. Willis advised officers that he missed a driveway and drove into the ditch. The subject, according to officers exhibited signs of impairment. The subject, Willis refused a field sobriety test and after officers discovered an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, was arrested. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department. The subject refused the Intoxilyzer 5000 test. He was booked and incarcerated.
