The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during it's last reporting period beginning 10/01/2013:
1. Mario Tejera, 29 years of age, Address-Roselawn Drive Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/01/2013 @ 11:57am
Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery (2nd Offense); Simple Criminal Damage to Property; False Imprisonment
Officers were dispatched to assist a subject at the Morgan City Police Department. Officers arrived and came into contact with a female complainant who advised that her boyfriend, Mario Tejera had committed a battery on her at their residence located on Roselawn Drive. The complainant advised that Tejera refused to let the complainant leave the residence and kept her there against her will, threatening bodily harm. The complainant was able to escape the residence and summon assistance. The complainant advised that Tejera attempted to prevent the escape and damaged the complainants vehicle. Officers located Mario Tejera at the residence. After investigation and speaking to witnesses and victim, Mario Tejera was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated with not bond yet set.
2. Fidel Castro, 27 years of age, Address-Halsey Street Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/01/2013 @ 2:02pm
Charges: Self- Mutilation by a Prisoner
Correctional officers at the Morgan City Jail discovered an inmate, Fidel Castro unresponsive inside a cell. Castro was found to have tied a shirt around his neck in an apparent suicide attempt. Officers were able to free the noose and render first aid to the inmate.
Castro was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center. After treatment, he was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. Castro's was originally processed and incarcerated for Probation Violation. He remains incarcerated and under watch.
3. Marshall Daniel Spires Jr. , 47 years of age, Address-Teche Rd. Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 10/02/2013 @ 1:48am
Charges: Warrant: Probation Violation
Officers patrolling the Grizzaffi Street area observed a suspicious vehicle. Upon attempting to investigate, they came into contact with Marshall Daniel Spires Jr. who, after checking, was found to be a wanted person for Probation Violation. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated.
