The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 09/13/2013:
1. Dwight Evan Williams, 27 years of age, Address-Duson, Louisiana was arrested on 09/13/2013 @ 6:27pm
Charges: Illegal Possession of Stolen Things; Simple Escape
The Morgan City Police Department received information regarding a stolen vehicle from the Lafayette area. Officers located a vehicle suspected as the stolen vehicle. The driver, Dwight Evan Williams was arrested on Railroad Avenue for illegal possession of the stolen vehicle and was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. During booking procedures, Dwight Williams fled from officers. After eluding police for approximately three hours, officers and detectives of the Morgan City Police
Department located Williams hiding inside a Brownell Homes residence. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked with Simple Escape. He remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail facility.
2. Becky Corbert, 37 years of age, Address-Highway 70 Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 09/14/2013 @ 3:06am.
Charge: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a subject sleeping outside a room at a local motel. Officers located a female, Becky Corbert sleeping outside on the walkway. The subject, Corbert appeared highy intoxicated was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was placed into a holding cell due to her intoxicated condition until she could be processed. She remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department's Jail facility.
3. Amy Gentry, 32 years of age, Address-Spruce Street Morgan City , Louisiana was arrested on 09/14/2013 @ 7:22pm
Charge: Theft of Goods (Value $75.00)
The Morgan City Police Department responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at a retail store located on Highway 182. Officers arrived and located Amy Gentry who according to witnesses, removed the tags from several items of clothing, placing the items in her purse and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items. Gentry stated to officers that she liked the excitement of stealing things. She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and released after posting a $492.00 bond.
4. Brady J. Bray, 36 years of age, Address, Spruce Street Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 09/15/2013 @ 3:41am
Charges: Appearing in Public Intoxicated
Officers responded to a complaint regarding an intoxicated subject at a Spruce Street residence causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and located Brady Bray who appeared intoxicated. Officers spoke to Bray and asked him to cease and calm the disturbance. Officers were again called back to the residence and were advised that Bray had begun creating another disturbance, leaving from the residence walking. Officers located Bray a short distance away at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. He was released on bond.
5. A 16 year old juvenile was arrested on 09/15/2013 @ 1:04pm
Charges: Armed Robbery; Flight From an Officer; Aggravated Assault; Warrants: 2nd Degree Battery; Unauthorized Entry into Inhabited Dwelling; Criminal Damage to Property; 2 Counts Simple Battery
The Morgan City Police Department responded to a call in regards to an armed robbery in the area of the Morgan City Junior High School Officers arrived and were advised by the complainant that he was approached by a black male subject near the Junior High School Stadium. He advised that the subject produced a handgun and demanded a watch worn by the complainant. The victim threw the watch and fled the scene. Officers canvassed the area in search of the suspect and were able to locate the suspect in the area. The suspect fled from officers on foot. The officers set up a perimeter and were able to capture the subject near Belanger Street. The subject was found to be a juvenile. Investigating officers were able to locate a weapon, discovered to be an air-soft pistol. The stolen item was recovered and released back to the owner. The juvenile was also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants through the City Court of Morgan City. The juvenile was booked at the Morgan City Police Department and then transported to Assumption Parish Juvenile Detention Center pending court proceedings.
