More information released about Welsh fugitive

We are learning more about the man who escaped police custody last night in Welsh.

According to Welsh Assistant Police Chief Robert Lane, 33-year-old Damien Guidry was arrested on a federal warrant. However, Lane says the charge for which Guidry is wanted is not immediately known.

According to Lane, Guidry was taken into custody following a traffic stop. Lane adds Guidry was in custody for about 20 minutes before he fled from the Welsh Police Department.

Lane says he doubts Guidry is still in Welsh, but he admits that Guidry could be anywhere because he has several listed residences. The U. S. Marshals Service, Louisiana State Police, and several area police forces are assisting Welsh police in the manhunt.

Guidry is listed as standing 6'3" and weighing 192 pounds. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. If you know Guidry's whereabouts, call 911 or Welsh police at 337-734-2626.
