More Details: I-10 Drug Bust in St. Landry Parish

Three men are arrested after a drug stop on Interstate 49 in St. Landry Parish.

According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz the Highway Interdiction Team (HIT) arrested three suspects for multiple drug charges including transporting approximately 120 pounds of Marijuana.

Sheriff Guidroz stated, "The Narcotics H.I.T. Unit was patrolling on I-49 just north of Washington when he stopped a black Chevrolet Avalanche for a routine traffic violation.

The Detectives also observed a blue Cadillac following the Avalanche. The driver of the Avalanche, Kedric Wiley, told the Detectives that he had a little Marijuana in the vehicle and consented to a search. During the search the Detectives located approximately 120 pounds of Marijuana. They also located liquid Codeine mixed with Sprite."

The Detectives noticed that the blue Cadillac had looped around and passed by them again. A cellular telephone in the vehicle then began ringing and the caller id indicated the caller as "Marquist". The Detectives then stopped the blue Cadillac for a routine traffic violation and spoke to the driver Ledale Marquist Gray and a passenger Lamar Poole. Gray gave consent to search his vehicle and the Detectives located a small quantity of Marijuana, several containers of Promethazine and a loaded 44 cal. revolver.

Items in both vehicles including cellular telephones, showing that the suspects were calling each other, paperwork, luggage and information from the suspects themselves tied the suspects together.

The Detectives seized both vehicles and the other evidence and transported the suspects to the St. Landry Parish Jail. During transport and booking additional Marijuana and Xanax pills were located on the suspect's person and in the transport units.

Sheriff Guidroz stated the street value of the drugs was approximately $300,000.00.
