Monroe principal resigns to work with state

MONROE, La. (AP) - A Monroe principal has resigned her position to work for the Recovery School District and the Louisiana Department of Education.
Whitney Martin will leave Lee Junior High School in two weeks to accept the position of Academic Field Coordinator. She will work with schools which are in academically unacceptable status.
Martin tells The News-Star she will likely be working in Madison, Franklin and several other districts in northeast
Louisiana.
Martin assumed the position at Lee in January 2007 and has since improved academic achievement and led the school through a change in its overall atmosphere.
Martin worked for the state Department of Education previously in a Distinguished Educator position where she again mentored schools.
